In preparations for 2013 tourist season, Split Airport Has purchased two apron low floor buses for transportation of passengers between aircraft and terminal building. Buses are adjusted to specific requirements of airport, and provide all prerequisites for safe and qualitative handling of passengers. Easier entry is provided by threshold height of only 28 cm, and three doors at each side of the bus. Modern air conditioned interior offers comfortable transport of up to 110 passengers. Fuel consumption is low, Euro 5 ecological standards are met.
Buses are purchased through open procurement procedure, from respectable German firm, Viseon – Neoplan, specialised in production of airport buses. Total investment value amounts to Euros 496.000,00, and it is financed from our own resources.
Among other significant equipment investments which are in course, or are planned for this year, we have to point out the purchase of one (1) 7-ton pallet/container loader, four (4) electrical towing tractors, twelve (12) container and heavy loads trolleys, monitors for FIDS, etc. Estimated value of this equipment is seven (7) million Kunas.

This year, summer timetable officially starts on 31st March. During winter period regular flights to Split were covered by Croatia Airlines (Zagreb, Munich, Frankfurt and Rome) and Germanwings (Cologne and Stuttgart).
Already starting from 22nd March 2013, the first flights of Lufthansa (Munich, Frankfurt), Condor (Frankfurt, Austrian Airlines (Vienna), and Pegasus (Istanbul) are recorded.
An earlier start announces yet another successful season for Split Airport.
Split Airport, SPU (LDSP), is a Schedules Facilitated Airport (00:01h - 24:00 h ) for the summer season from 31 MAR13 until 26 OCT13.
All scheduled air traffic, charter flights, general aviation and business aviation are subject to schedule facilitation made by Traffic Coordinator or Ground OPS Centre.
Within preparations for work in winter conditions, Split Airport has purchased a special
vehicle for runway friction measurement, which very precisely determines its condition and
readiness for safe landing and take-off operations. Measurements are made at speed of 95
km/h to better simulate conditions of aircraft drive, and results are available immediately, by
e-mail, what speeds up decisions on openness of airport, need for corrective maintenance of
surfaces or removal of layers of tires, and on respective measures of removal of ice, snow or
large quantities of water on the runway.
This special vehicle is the most modern in its category, meets all International Civil Aviation
Organisation standards, and demanding standards of American, British and Swedish aviation
authorities.
In the open public procurement procedure, the most suitable tenderer is chosen, Swedish
ASFT Industries AB, world leader in production of constant friction measurement equipment.
Funds are provided from Split Airport own resources.
